Making a part footprint

I have watched the videos on making parts but still have questions.

As an example just a simple Cree LED -  J series  2835 LED.

How do I change each Pad dimensions, space between the pads and part outline.

It just isnt obvious to me.

See page 24 for attachment.

Will do a tutorial on how I made it this weekend.
It's a very good example of how to create a completely custom part.image

  • Note: The pads were converted to TPH.
This also allows routing to bottom side.

You can now see thermal via holes in 3D. Notice central slot.

The video is going to be a couple of days late.
Heat wave this weekend in UK.
    A scorching 29°C
To record video I have to close windows and doors. Gets so hot!

  • +1 on this tutorial from me too. I've made custom footprints before, but it gets harder to remember new things

  • This video shows you what virtual parts are and shows you how to create a virtual part ( an analog ground) and use it on your PCB
